The Starr House

FREMONT, CA
HISTORIC RESTORATION

Fronting onto the sprawling 5.4-acre Gardens of Palmdale in Fremont’s Mission District, the stunning Tudor Revival style Starr House was originally built in 1927 as a summer home for Hazel Wagnes Starr and her husband Oscar Starr, the principal engineer for Holt Manufacturing Co., CL Best Tractor Co., and Caterpillar Tractor. Robson Homes purchased the home and surrounding property from the Sisters of the Holy Family for The Abbey development. Over a period of 3 years, we meticulously restored and renovated the home, carefully preserving the character of the 1920s mansion while showcasing the finest of modern amenities and premium home design. The result is a one-of-a-kind residential estate home flooded with natural light washing in from the abundant leaded and stained glass windows, all original or restored. Historic millwork, original hardwood floors and preserved neoclassical murals pair with luxurious Italian marble and limestone to create a transitional home that is both clean and detailed.

The Starr House is now a registered historic home under the Mills Act. Robson Homes was awarded two Judges Special Awards for the historic restoration of this incredible mansion at the Pacific Coast Builder’s Conference 2021 Gold Nugget Awards.
